About Pathfinder Pedal
Here's the truth: Three months ago, I knew almost nothing about e-bikes.
I'm Rick, founder of Pathfinder Pedal. And yeah, that opening line probably isn't what you expect from a company selling e-bike accessories. But stick with me.
Like you, I was excited about the freedom e-bikes promised. Also like you, I got overwhelmed fast. Class 1, 2, or 3? Where can I actually ride? Will my apartment building even let me store it? Does my car rack hold 60 pounds? What about rain gear that actually works?
The regulations alone felt like a part-time job to understand. Every state different. Every city adding its own rules. Every park with its own signs. I spent weeks down rabbit holes, reading contradictory advice, watching YouTube videos that assumed I already knew things I didn't.
That frustration? That's why Pathfinder Pedal exists.
We're building the guide we desperately needed
Instead of pretending to be experts, we're learning right alongside you. Every product we recommend has either been personally tested or expertly vetted. Every compliance guide comes from actual research, not recycled blog posts. Every piece of advice is something we learned the hard way, so you don't have to.
We call it the Pathfinder Protocol an "Authority-First" approach: Education over fluff
Texas Hill Country and City Living
We're based right here in San Antonio, Texas with roots in Kerrville that keep pulling us back for beautiful long rides with grueling hill work. That means we understand both worlds—the specific challenges of riding in a city that's still figuring out how bikes and cars share space and the backtrails etiquette and safety concerns. We support local bike shops and the knowledge they share. (shoutout to Bicycle Heaven on Broadway). Finding out where enforcement happens and where it doesn't. We're part of Texas, and there's no place like home.
The bigger vision
Our goal? To make e-bike ownership as simple as it should be. That means:
- Compliance made clear: State-by-state, city-by-city breakdowns in plain English
- Products that work: Tested in real conditions, not just spec sheets
- Community support: We believe in supporting local bike shops, not competing with them
- Honest guidance: If we don't know something, we'll say so—then go find out
What we're actually building
Every question you ask makes our guides better. Every product review helps the next rider. Every local regulation we decode saves someone else a headache. We're creating a resource that grows more valuable over time—a community knowledge base built from real experiences.
Our promise is simple: We'll do the homework so you can focus on the ride.
Let's figure this out together
Got questions? Confused about regulations? Need honest advice about gear that actually works?
Drop us a line through our [Contact page]. We read everything, and your question might become our next guide or video.
Because here's what we believe: The e-bike revolution isn't about the bikes. It's about regular people reclaiming the freedom to move through their hometown and their country. About replacing car trips with something more enjoyable. About supporting local bike shops and the knowledge they share. About building communities around sustainable transportation.
And that starts with having a guide you can trust.
Welcome to Pathfinder Pedal. Let's ride.
P.S. - Following our journey? We document everything—the wins, the failures, the "oh crap, I didn't think about that" moments—on our [YouTube channel] and [blog]. Because building in public keeps us honest, and honestly? It's more fun this way.
