Mid-Drive Muscle. Full-Suspension Comfort. Zero Compromise.
The A7 Pro is the only mid-drive commuter in our lineup — and it earns that spot. A 500W ANANDA torque-sensing mid-drive motor with 130Nm pushes through hills that hub motors crawl up. Shimano Alivio 9-speed. SR-Suntour fork and DNM rear shock soak up potholes before they reach your spine. Schwalbe Super Moto-X tires. Shimano hydraulic brakes. 100mm dropper seatpost. 720Wh Samsung/LG battery for up to 50 miles per charge. Step-through frame for riders 5'3" to 6'5".

3. WHO'S THIS FOR
You commute through a city with hills. Real hills — the kind where hub motors whine, overheat, and lose speed halfway up. You want a bike that climbs those grades the way your legs would if your legs had 130Nm of torque and didn't get tired.
Or you're done with the vibration. You've ridden rigid-frame e-bikes across cracked pavement, expansion joints, and pothole minefields. Your wrists hurt. Your lower back complains at the end of every ride. You want full suspension that actually works — not a marketing checkbox.
Or you just want a premium commuter. The Schwalbe tires, the 9-speed Shimano, the dropper post, the auto-illuminating brake light — details that separate bikes built for serious daily riders from bikes built for weekend test rides.
4. A7 PRO vs A7 — WHAT THE UPGRADE GETS YOU

| Integrated Lock | Not included | ✓ Rear-wheel lock |
| UL Certification | UL 2849 | UL 2849 / UL 2271 |
| Adjustable Stem | 0–60° | Standard alloy |
The Pro premium buys you: Mid-drive motor architecture (130Nm vs 70Nm — nearly double the torque through the drivetrain), Schwalbe premium tires, 9-speed Shimano Alivio over 8-speed, 100mm dropper seatpost, integrated rear-wheel lock, UL 2849/2271 dual certification, and 7 fewer pounds on the frame. The tradeoff: the A7 carries 100 lbs more payload and gets more range per charge (hub motors are more efficient on flat terrain).
Which one is right for you? Hills → A7 Pro. Flat terrain + cargo → A7. If your commute includes grades over 8%, the mid-drive's geared torque advantage is significant. If your route is mostly flat and you need maximum payload and accessories included, the A7 delivers more out of the box for less money.
5. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS THAT MATTER
| Specification | Detail | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Motor | 500W ANANDA M100 Mid-Drive, 130Nm Torque | Mid-drive puts power through the drivetrain — not the wheel. That means better hill climbing, more natural pedal feel, and longer component life |
| Battery | 48V 15Ah Samsung/LG 21700 Cells (720Wh) | Samsung/LG cells — same quality as the D5 2.0. Detachable, 8.8 lbs — charge it at your desk if you want |
| Range | 35–50 miles (PAS) | Realistic for a mid-drive. Mid-drives consume more battery on hills but climb them without fading. 50 miles covers most round-trip commutes |
| Torque Sensor | Torque + Shifting + Speed + Brake sensors | Four-sensor system. Torque sensor reads your pedal pressure in real time — motor matches your effort, not a preset speed |
| Tires | Schwalbe Super Moto-X 27.5 × 2.4" | Premium German rubber. Puncture-resistant, reflective sidewall strip, designed for urban/commuter use — not generic fat tires |
| Front Suspension | SR-Suntour X1-BOOST, 120mm Travel | Suntour is the world's second-largest suspension fork manufacturer. 120mm travel absorbs potholes, curbs, and broken pavement |
| Rear Suspension | DNM AO-06, 165×38mm | Four-bar linkage rear suspension. Same DNM brand used in mountain bikes — calibrated for urban comfort on the A7 Pro |
| Brakes | Shimano MT200 Hydraulic Disc, 180mm F/R | Shimano brakes — predictable, serviceable, and available at any bike shop. Hydraulic means consistent stopping power wet or dry |
| Drivetrain | Shimano Alivio M3100, 9-Speed | Alivio sits above Altus in Shimano's lineup — smoother shifting, more precise indexing. 9 speeds give you finer gear selection for hill matching |
| Cassette | Shimano CS-HG201-9, 11-34T | Wide range cassette. 11T for flat-road cruising, 34T for steep climbs — the mid-drive motor amplifies every gear |
| Frame | 6061 Aluminum, Step-Through | Aerospace-grade aluminum. Step-through geometry — easy on/off at traffic lights, accessible for all mobility levels |
| Seatpost | 100mm Dropper Seatpost | Adjust seat height on the fly — drop it at stops, raise it for riding. Serious rider feature rarely seen on commuter bikes |
| Display | BIGSTONE M300C-TFT | Full-color TFT display. Speed, battery %, PAS level, trip data — readable in direct sunlight |
| Lights | 48V LED Headlight + Auto-Illuminating Brake Light | Brake light activates automatically when you squeeze the lever — no manual switch needed. Frame-integrated for clean aesthetics |
| Rear Lock | Integrated Rear-Wheel Lock | Built into the frame. Click to lock — no separate cable needed for quick stops at the coffee shop |
| Saddle | DDK 153MF | Comfort-oriented commuter saddle — pressure-relief channel reduces numbness on longer rides |
| Kickstand | Heavy-Duty Aluminum | Holds 77 lbs without tipping |
| Charger | US Standard 2.0A Smart Charger | Full charge in ~7.5 hours. Charges to 80% faster |

Know Before You Buy: E-Bike Classification
This bike ships as a Class 2 e-bike (throttle + pedal assist, 20 MPH max). Through the display settings, you can configure it as Class 1 (pedal assist only, 20 MPH) or Class 3 (pedal assist, up to 28 MPH). Here's what that means for you:
Class 1 (PAS Only, 20 MPH): Legal on most bike paths, trails, and shared-use paths nationwide. No throttle — pedal assist only.
Class 2 (PAS + Throttle, 20 MPH): Legal on most roads and many bike paths. Throttle provides motor power without pedaling — useful at intersections and steep starts.
Class 3 (PAS, 28 MPH): Legal on roads in most states. Restricted from some bike paths and trails. Faster cruising speed for longer commutes.Your responsibility: Check your state and local e-bike regulations before riding. Classification laws vary. See our E-Bike Class Guide →
6. WHAT THIS BIKE ACTUALLY SOLVES
Hub Motors Die on Hills
The Problem: Hub motors push the wheel directly. On steep grades, they overheat, lose torque, and drain the battery twice as fast. You're left pedaling a 70+ lb bike uphill with a motor that's barely helping.
The Solution:
✓ Mid-drive motor pushes through the drivetrain, multiplying torque through your gears
✓ 130Nm — more torque than any hub motor in our lineup
✓ Shift to a lower gear on climbs — the motor's power multiplies with each gear ratio
✓ No overheating on sustained grades — mid-drives were designed for this
Rigid Frames Punish Your Body
The Problem: Most commuter e-bikes have no rear suspension. Every pothole, expansion joint, and cracked sidewalk transfers directly to your spine, wrists, and sit bones. After 10 miles, you feel 30.
The Solution:
✓ SR-Suntour X1-BOOST front fork: 120mm travel, tuned for urban impacts
✓ DNM AO-06 rear shock: four-bar linkage absorbs what the fork misses
✓ 100mm dropper seatpost — adjust ride position without stopping
✓ Schwalbe Super Moto-X tires add another layer of vibration damping
Cheap Components Fail When You Need Them Most
The Problem: Budget e-bikes use no-name brakes, generic tires, and 7-speed drivetrains. They work fine on a Saturday test ride. They fail in wet commutes, heavy traffic, and daily use.
The Solution:
✓ Shimano MT200 hydraulic brakes — same stopping power in rain, heat, and cold
✓ Shimano Alivio 9-speed — a step above Altus, with smoother shifting and more precise indexing
✓ Schwalbe Super Moto-X tires — puncture-resistant, reflective sidewalls, German-engineered for city riding
✓ KMC E9 chain — e-bike-rated chain built for motor torque loads
Parking a Bike Is a Liability
The Problem: Cable locks get cut. Carrying a separate lock adds weight and hassle. You skip quick stops because locking up takes too long.
The Solution:
✓ Integrated rear-wheel lock — built into the frame, not hanging off a bracket
✓ Click to lock at coffee shops, grocery runs, quick errands
✓ Not a replacement for a U-lock on extended stops, but eliminates the "do I bother locking it?" hesitation for 5-minute runs
💡 Pro Tip: The integrated lock handles quick stops. For peace of mind on longer parking, pair it with the Kryptonite Keeper Chain Lock — the "walk away without looking back" upgrade.
7. REAL-WORLD SCENARIOS
The Hill-City Commute
You live at the bottom of a 12% grade. Every morning, you ride 6 miles to work — three of those miles are uphill. Hub motor bikes get you halfway before the motor fades and you're grinding pedals on a 77-lb bike.
On the A7 Pro: Shift to 3rd gear, engage PAS 3. The mid-drive torque sensor reads your pedal pressure and multiplies it through the drivetrain. 130Nm of torque pushes you up the same grade at 12 MPH without breaking a sweat. At the top, shift to 7th — the motor backs off on flat ground, and your battery conserves for the ride home.
The Win: You arrive dry. No sweat-through dress shirt. No shower needed at the office.
The Four-Season Commuter
November. It rained overnight. The bike path has standing water, fallen leaves, and a 200-yard stretch of gravel construction detour. You check the weather, check your bike, and ride anyway.
On the A7 Pro: Schwalbe Super Moto-X tires grip wet pavement without hydroplaning. Full suspension absorbs the gravel section without rattling your coffee out of the bottle cage. Shimano hydraulic brakes stop predictably on wet rotors — no grabbing, no fade. Auto-illuminating brake light fires every time you squeeze the lever. You ride through November like it's June.
The Win: 12 months of commuting, not 7. The bike doesn't take winter off.
